Fast forward to modern-day Canby, Oregon, where our team of passionate plant breeders took a fresh look at the genus during breeding strategy meetings. The challenge with Agastache was clear: the most colorful varieties lacked hardiness and couldn't tolerate winter wet, while the cold-hardy types came in uninspiring hues. The introduction of Blue Boa changed everything. With its striking, fluffy flower spikes and robust upright habit, it quickly became a standout. This breakthrough was achieved by incorporating the winter-hardy genetics of A. rugosa from Korea. Yet, there was still a demand for more compact, \suitable for efficient shipping and retail displays. While exploring the deserts of Eastern Oregon, the TERRA NOVA%u00ae team discovered an obscure and, frankly, unremarkable species that would become the cornerstone of a revolutionary Agastache breeding program (zones 5%u201310). Despite its humble appearance, this species contributed both its dwarf habit and superior winter hardiness, laying the foundation for the KUDOS%u2122 Series. After years of careful selection, the series was introduced to resounding success, instantly reshaping the Agastache market. The KUDOS%u2122 varieties proved ideal for growers, with their naturally compact and bushy form, diverse color palette, and unexpected resistance to downy mildew. With KUDOS%u2122 firmly established as a %u201cgame-changer%u201d for propagators and growers, we thought our work with Agastache was complete. But demand led us to push the boundaries further. Growers wanted an even more compact series, and we delivered. A few years later, the POQUITO%u00aeSeries was born. These ultra-compact, bushy plants are perfect for borders and containers, offering the same hardiness and disease resistance as KUDOS%u2122, but in an even smaller package without forming a tight clump. At TERRA NOVA%u00ae, we're proud to have transformed Agastache from a disease-prone temperennial into a resilient and breathtaking perennial, setting new standards fo the industry.TERRA NOVA%u00ae AgastacheBenefits UsesAgastache 'Blue Boa' PP24050 EU38274%u2022 Long deep violet blue flower spikes%u2022 Fast growing and vigorous large landscape perennial%u2022 One of TERRA NOVA%u00ae's TOP POLLINATOR plants%u2022 Z 5-10 %u0098 y %u00ae R D J 30/24/36Agastache 'Morello' PP29527 EU51349%u2022 Huge, dense inflorescences of burgundy flowers%u2022 Extended bloom time spring through fall %u2022 Spring foliage has dramatic purple tones %u2022 Dense, strongly upright habit%u2022 Mildew tolerance%u2022 Loved by bees and hummingbirds%u2022 Z 5-10 %u0098 y %u00ae R D J 27/22/33AGASTACHE 'MORELLO'AGASTACHE 'BLUE BOA'20AGASTACHEAgastache Background & History
